# Sign in and out

> How to sign in to Launchfolio with Google or with your username or email and a password, what each message means, and how to sign out.

Everyone signs in on one page: `launchfolio.live/login`.

## Two ways to sign in

| Way | Who uses it |
| --- | --- |
| **Continue with Google** | New owners and returning Google accounts. New owners choose a site name after signing in. |
| **Username or email** and **Password** | Existing password accounts and the administrator. |

## Try it

**Practice copy** (`launchfolio.live/login`): The sign-in page. Signing in here never works: it shows the message you would see after a wrong password.
1. New or returning? Use this. Google may ask which account to use.
2. Only for accounts that have a password. Type your username (your site name), or the email you signed up with.
3. The eye button shows or hides what you typed.
4. If something is wrong, a red message appears above the fields and tells you why.
5. There is no reset link by email. Ask us and we will reset it for you.

## Where you land

If a page asked you to sign in first, you go back to that page afterwards, as long as it is one of yours.

> **More than one site?:** You sign in once, with your own account. Extra sites have no sign-in of their own. Switch between them by pressing the site in your dashboard’s header. See [Add another site](https://www.launchfolio.live/docs/en/more-sites).

## If sign-in doesn’t work

| Message | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| That username or email and password don’t match. | Check both and try again. Accounts made with Google have no password: use **Continue with Google**. |
| Too many attempts. Try again in … minutes. | Wait that long, then try again. |
| This account is turned off. | [Contact us](https://www.launchfolio.live/contact). |
| This account wasn’t approved. | You can apply again with Google. See [Pay to publish](https://www.launchfolio.live/docs/en/pay-and-review). |
| Google sign-in didn’t complete. | Press **Continue with Google** again. |
| No site yet | After Google sign-in, [claim a name](https://www.launchfolio.live/docs/en/claim-your-name) from onboarding. |

## Forgot or change your password

- **Forgot it?** There is no reset email. [Contact us](https://www.launchfolio.live/contact) and we will reset it.
- **Want a new one?** Open **Settings** at the bottom of your dashboard’s sidebar, then the **Sign-in** tab. The new password needs at least 8 characters.
- Changing your password signs you out on every other device. This one stays signed in.
- If you sign in with Google, you have no password, so you won’t see this setting.

## Signing out

In the editor or the Designer, click your picture at the top right and choose **Sign out**. Your changes are saved first. **Your profile** in the same menu shows your name, username, email and how you sign in. The same menu has **Go home**, which takes you to your **Dashboard**. On the dashboard, the sign-out button sits at the bottom of the sidebar, next to your name. While you're signed in, the Launchfolio home page, templates and help centre show your picture instead of **Get started**. Signing out ends your session on every device. Otherwise you stay signed in for 7 days.
